Every once in a while I get a chance to build something for myself and when I do, I like to let my imagination run a little wild………..just a little though. A case in point is this tall clock I designed and built for our home that has a certain “Art Deco” influence to it. Some of the elements of the Art Deco movement were influenced by ancient Egyptian designs and if you look closely at this clock you may see some of that influence here.
The body of the clock is made from Nogal, (Peruvian Walnut) and along with its deep rich brown colour it’s an easy wood to work with and not that expensive. The other wood that makes up the clock is quarter sawn white Pine. I’ve always liked the look of this Pine, its straight grain lends a certain visual effect to the piece. From the floor to the center of the clock face is 66″ and the total height of the clock is 78″. I won’t bore you with the rest of the dimensions, instead, I’ll let the pictures tell the story.
