There are rare moments in a father/woodworker’s life when you are proud to be who you are.
This is one of those “rare” moments in my life.
Every once in awhile we as woodworkers have a tendency to stand back and take a look at what we’ve been doing and perhaps ponder a thing or two about our work. This is one of those times that I’ve had to stand back and ponder………………….
During the time that our oldest daughter Lisa was preparing for her wedding, there was a lot of working going on around here behind the scenes knowing that the photographer was going to be taking pictures here and using our home as a backdrop.
A few days before the wedding I took all of my work off the walls and removed several pieces of furniture that I had built, to unclutter of our main floor. Upon coming home one day just before the wedding, Lisa was upset and came to me and asked me why I had taken my work off the walls and from their normal resting places. I told her that it was for the best and that she didn’t need my work cluttering up the background of her wedding photos.
Dad, she said to me, I’m proud of the work you do, I’m proud of the fact that my father is a woodworker just like his father before him……………………….put it all back, I want your work in the background of my wedding photos.
So I put everything back as it was and that made Lisa very happy.
Needless to say, I’m proud of Lisa and I’m proud to be a woodworker.
Thank you Lisa.
